Our TiVos include the Lifetime Plus Service. This is the same level of service that requires subscription fees. There are no subscription fees associated with the use of this unit. You can begin using the TiVo immediately.           Question -  What is the Product Lifetime Service?     Answer -  The Product Lifetime Service allows for the TiVo to be used without paying any fees. You will have access to all of the same features that other customers have who are paying monthly subscription fees. The Product Lifetime Service was purchased by the previous owner at a cost of approximately $300.00. The Product Lifetime Service is linked to the TiVo hardware and not to the previous owner. When this unit connects to the TiVo servers to acquire the account status and to download TV guide data, it is automatically recognized as having the Product Lifetime Service and will begin working immediately without the need to pay any fees to TiVo.           Question -  This is my first TiVo. Will I have to call TiVo in order to begin using the TiVo?     Answer -  You can use the TiVo immediately without calling TiVo. However, we recommend that you call TiVo and create an account. By doing so, you will be able to take advantage of all of the free multimedia features TiVo has to offer (online scheduling, access to your music and pictures on your PC, Amazon Unbox movie download, and more). Do I still need to call TiVo to begin using the TiVo?     Answer -  You will need to have this TiVo added to your account in order to use the free multimedia features (multi-room viewing, online scheduling, access to your music and pictures on your PC, Amazon Unbox movie download, and more). Call TiVo's toll free number. Choose the option to activate your TiVo. Once you have an agent on the phone, tell the agent that you have a DVR with the Product Lifetime Service and that you would like to add this DVR to your account. Once added to your account, the TiVo will acquire the needed "Media Access Key". Your existing TiVos will be automatically updated with this key during it's next scheduled TV guide data download. After these updates are done, you will be able to see and access shows from your other TiVos.           Question -  I see that you upgraded the hard drive with a larger hard drive . Does this affect the Product Lifetime Service in any way?     Answer -  Absolutely not. The hard dive upgrade does not affect the status of the Product Lifetime Service in any way. The upgrades are done by experienced technicians. How does this benefit me?     Answer -  Most TiVos have either a 40GB or 80GB hard dive. This basically translates to a recording capacity of 40 hours or 80 hours. A TiVo DVR is basically a computer that digitally records your shows to a hard drive. It is easy to consume these limited storage capacities fairly quickly. Once you start reaching the capacity of the hard drive, TiVo will start to delete some of your shows to make room for your scheduled recordings. If you decide to download movies from Amazon Unbox, this will only add to the storage capacity problem. By having a larger hard drive, you can record more shows and download more movies without worrying if that particular show you haven't gotten around to watching will be deleted. Look at it this way, replacing the 40GB hard drive with a 250GB increases the recording capacity by over 600%! Because TiVo automatically schedules your shows and adjusts for show airing conflicts, a TiVo upgraded with a 250GB hard drive is almost like having six 40 hour TiVos in one unit.       Selling Terms :   Payments Accepted - We accept payments by PayPal only.
