Then just set up the TiVo-HD using your ZIP and call TiVo to move the unit to your own TiVo account (new or existing) at no extra cost. This TiVo was not originally designed for a big 1Tb drive so it reads out only 144 hours of HD record time but the drive gives you 930Gb of record space, HD recordings take from 5Gb per hour to a maximum of 6Gb per hour, when you divide this number you come up with 155 hours of HD record time. The new TiVo-HDXL has a 1Tb drive in it and shows about 157 hours of HD record time (as it was designed to show the correct record time for the 1Tb drive).   Remember Lifetime (Plus) Service when available for any TiVo can cost $399 plus sales tax in many states; with Lifetime Service you will not ever have to pay TiVo any monthly payment (plus sales tax in many states) for the TiVo service (The TiVo service is now $12.95/month with a one year TiVo contract).
