Description
Hi there. Up for auction is this Solidex Beta video cassette rewinder. This is a must for Beta collectors. You know how hard Beta stuff is getting to come by, most of it already having been recycled, or wound up in landfills. This item is still brand new, in the box, and never used. Included are the original manual and AC adapter. The box is in mint condition, as is the unit, with the exception of a few light scratches on the lid from moving around inside the box. There is also a bit of history behind this unit. On the top right corner of the front of the box you'll notice the original price tag, indicating this unit sold for $24.95 at Quement Electronics. If you've been around the San Francisco Bay Area for as long as I have, you'll certainly remember these guys. They had an incredible store on Bascom Avenue in San Jose, CA. I remember it being a magical electronic wonderland throughout my childhood in the 80's. Then through the 90's I'd continue to frequent it, and be amazed at how knowledgeable and friendly the staff was, compared to most other electronic stores. But sadly they saw their business gradually eaten away, by the huge, nasty electronics behemoth taking over the West Coast, Fry's Electronics. Quement tried to hold on as long as they could, cutting the business in half and leasing out the other half of the building. But Fry's was relentless in their pricing and advertising, and eventually Quement had to throw in the towel, around 2000. The vacant building sat for a few years with its huge landmark sign still out in front, and then was torn down a few years later. Now all that remains of Quement is a vacant lot...and this one piece of history I managed to find, harkening back to their glory days. Note the item's unique features in the 2nd pic. Here are the pics: The bidding on this piece of 80's history starts at just $10. Flat rate shipping within the United States will be $9. Contact me for shipping quotes to other areas. Terms Of Sale: PayPal or money orders are accepted. If sending a money order, please mail it promptly. The faster I receive your payment, the faster you can receive your item.
